Products
Biodegradable products allow us not just to restore ecosystems, but to kickstart the natural recovery process.
Ecosystem restoration as climate change sollution
The global loss of plant and animal diversity is more severe than the issues we face with the changing climate. These problems are interconnected, but they also share common solutions. Did you know that 37% of our efforts to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C, as agreed in the Paris Climate Agreement, can be achieved through restoring natural environments? Additionally, every dollar invested in restoring nature results in a three-dollar benefit for society—a significant positive impact.
Improving ecosystem restoration success
Unfortunately, a lot of ecosystem restoration projects fail, leading to the loss of money and effort. This is where BESE comes in. With our specialized nature restoration products, a higher percentage of our projects succeed. BESE’s products are environmentally friendly, breaking down naturally and made from waste stream materials. This approach helps us reduce our impact on the planet and aligns with the growing circular economy.
Environmentally friendly products
Since our products are derived from natural sources and breakdown over time, we kickstart the natural recovery process without introducing pollutants or permanent materials like plastics and concrete. We use our products in nature-based solutions to address challenges such as protecting coastlines, preventing erosion, and stabilizing riverbanks.
BESE-elements
Our most popular product, the BESE-elements, is a lattice structure made from potato starch that proves effective in various ecosystems. It’s particularly useful for stabilizing the ground and providing stability for plants or reef-building organisms to gradually take over the stabilizing role as the BESE-elements naturally breakdown.
More BESE-products
We’ve also developed specific products for particular situations, such as the BESE-mesh biopolymer designed for oyster shells and coral rubble stabilization, BESE-reef paste for aiding the settlement of Flat European Oyster larvae, and BESE-mesh cellulose, a rapidly biodegrading product for transplanting aquatic vegetation.
Not only for ecosystem restoration
It’s worth noting that our products go beyond nature restoration and also find applications in agriculture, construction, and art. Visit the individual product pages to learn more about their uses in nature restoration, or feel free to reach out to us with any questions.
Products made from waste streams
All BESE’s products are biobased and made from waste streams. This approach allows us to minimize our environmental footprint as we work towards restoring the planet. It aligns with the increasingly popular trend of using circular products—products that are part of a sustainable cycle. Let’s choose products that nature appreciates!
